Nose : ripe. Sweet, rich and generous, with notes of lime and apple followed by subtle nutty notes. It evolves opening to a more juicy character: pineapple, orange, sultanas while the base aroma shows a ashy profile.

 

Appearance : intense gold, and light amber.

 

Palate : warm and silky texture after a bitter-sweet attack. Quickly develops to spicy and woody notes: cedar tree, caramelized banana and vanilla flavoured custard.

 

Overall : lingering and warm; with a hint of pepper. Notes of ginger cinnamon and cedar.

格蘭昆奇 Glenkinchie
 

蘇格蘭低地的格蘭昆奇酒廠距離熱鬧的愛丁堡不遠（15-20英哩之遙），長久以來被暱稱為「The Edinburgh Malt」。酒廠於1837年由一對農夫兄弟George Rate以及John Rate建立。（沒有直接證據顯示，格蘭昆奇的前身是Milton Distillery，或許兩兄弟在1837年把酒廠改名。）

 

1853年Rate兄弟破產，酒廠成為了磨坊。1881年在Maj. James Grey主導下，恢復了威士忌的生產，而且奇蹟式地度過了兩次世界大戰。1969年酒廠停止自己的大麥與穀類的發芽，而地板發麥的地方也成了麥芽威士忌的博物館。

1981年蒸餾室重建，改成蒸氣加熱。而且它的兩支蒸餾器可以說是蘇格蘭最大的，初餾器容量達到3萬2千公升。1987年聯合酒業開始將該酒廠納入旗下的Classic Malt系列，代表低地酒廠風格，格蘭金奇的酒標才漸漸在1989年被知道被認識。
